A Night at the Ballet
The Tasmanian Youth Classical Ballet Company presented A Night at the Ballet at the stunning Theatre Royal on the 18 October 2017. The twenty seven members of the 2017 Company presented a glorious evening of classical and neo classical ballet. The young dancers age 10 to 18 performed works from well-known ballets including The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote and The Nutcracker along with new works by Artistic Director Shayne Davies and award-winning choreographer Daniel Jaber.

Tas Sports Physio’s Darren Poon announced as our new in-house physiotherapist
Darren Poon is a Physiotherapist and Director at Tas Sports Physio. Darren graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2005 and will also receive a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy from Latrobe University in 2017. He has over 10 years experience working with young dancers and has worked with ballet dancers in both Western Australia and Tasmania. Darren’s expertise is in treating adolescent and growth related injuries and successfully returning them back to competition.
In collaboration with the Tasmanian Youth Classical Ballet Company, Darren conducts Pre-Pointe Assessments, Balance and Core Control Workshops as well as Injury Prevention Workshops for ballet dancers.

Daniel Jaber commissioned to create an original piece on the TYCBC
Award winning contemporary and ballet choreographer and teacher, Daniel Jaber, is currently based in Los Angeles and Australia. Daniel will visit Tasmania in 2017 to work with the Company to create a unique piece on our dancers.

Gabrielle de Vriese accepted into the prestigious West Australian Academy of Performing Arts
Company dancer Gabrielle de Vries leaves us in 2017 to embark on the three year Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the internationally renowned arts institute - WAAPA. We wish Gabrielle all the best as she embarks on the next step toward a career in the performing arts. Gabrielle trained at House of Dance with Michelle Williams since she was 6 years old.
